A Message from Shannon:
Hello there! Taking a Pilates teacher training is a life changing experience but choosing the training that is right for you can be a challenging and even a confusing task. I have been through this process several times myself: researching trainings, comparing content and the number of training hours and of course the price. You may also be concerned about whether or not you need to be registered with the PMA or another governing alliance in order to get insurance or a job teaching. I am just an email away if you have any questions, regardless if you decide to take my training or not. So please feel welcome to contact me at any point in your decision process. I would say that the best way to see if someone's training is suited to you is to interview or meet with the lead teacher and take one of their classes. In fact, one of the requirements for this training is that we share at least one class together before you register, so that you can feel confident in the style, approach and leadership style that I offer new teachers. Let's connect. And if my training doesn't suit your needs then I would be happy to direct you towards another training that just might be what you are looking for.
I look forward to meeting you! S.
This is a foundational Mat Pilates teacher training that covers some of the classical principles, exercises and philosophy of Joseph Pilates original work with the contemporary influences of biomechanical principles, a body-neutral approach and the influences of barre, breathwork, dance, reformer as well as other fitness modalities. Focus is placed on preparing participants to teach an all levels group Mat Pilates class with a balance of fitness and therapeutic mastery.
This teacher training will cover:
-34 Classical Pilates exercises
-Variations and modifications on the classical exercises
-The History of Pilates
-Benefits of Core Stability
-Anatomical Language and Cueing
-Physiology (as it pertains to movement)
-Working with Injuries
-The Social Context of Teaching
-The "All Bodies Philosophy" for Teaching Pilates
-Professional Preparation and Work Search
-Teacher’s Mentorship Program
Upon fulfilling all of the training hours that includes a 30 minute teaching practicum and a written exam, participants will receive a teacher’s certification (with certificate) from Shannon Cluff Pilates and will be qualified to teach group Mat Pilates classes at studios, gyms and community centers.
Shannon has been in the fitness, dance and yoga industry for over thirty years. In 2004 she received her 200hr Yoga Teacher Certification with Serenity Yoga and then opened a yoga studio in 2006. During that time she mentored over 400 teachers as part of the Lead With Love Mentorship program. After 8 years of business she sold her studio and then moved on to manage four other studios and became faculty for several other yoga teacher trainings. She began teaching Mat Pilates in 2014 and completed her Mat Pilates teacher training with Lela Dawson in 2018 and then assisted her in the following teacher training in 2019. Shannon has also completed her Reformer teacher training with Pilates Process. Shannon currently runs a successful online teaching business and she leads group Mat Pilates classes for Yoga Generation.
